Sitting on the lanai of the home he and Ruth built, looking out on the island he loved; sharing in the peace he found here; thinking about my big brother; remembering how he shaped my life; grateful for the way he made me feel good about me; sad to know I will not be seeing him again; glad for all he gave me. Affectionate. Patient. A fountain of information (great at a museum or zoo) The most infectuous laugh ever, to go with his great sense of humor. Poor old Prufrock did not think that the mermaids would sing to him, but sitting here on this lanai, watching the vast Pacific rolling by, I am sure that they can be heard, and I believe they sang to Jim.
