Remembering Jim

Jim, “Corm” was born in South Bend, Indiana and died unexpectedly and peacefully in Honoka’a, Hawaii on February 2, 2008. Jim took his master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and taught at the college level for several years. He and his wife of 33 years, Ruth, visited Hawaii in 1988, fell in love with it, and never left. In Hawaii, Jim worked as a master mechanic until he retired in 2004. Jim had many interests and talents, including amateur farming, gardening, woodworking, and Bach organ music. Jim was a good, kind, unpretentious man who loved a rational discussion and a hearty laugh. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. He was so very much loved in return. He is survived by his wife, mother, two sisters, three children, son and daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, and 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Joel. All who knew him will miss him beyond words. Talk not of my departure with sighs in your hearts; close Your eyes and you will see me with you forevermore. --Khalil Gibran
